Vocational Services

Link's vocational services facilitate paid work in integrated community settings. Vocational programs provide assessment, skill training and support to find and maintain work in numerous settings.
Admission criteria for vocational programs include:
• At least 18 years of age with a primary disability of mental retardation or other developmental disability
• Ability to tolerate a three to six hour program day and be willing to participate/benefit from services
• Eligible for Medicaid funding or private pay.

The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF) accredits Link's vocational programs. There are two programs for consumers to participate in.

Supported Employment is designed to provide work experience in a community environment along with supports necessary to ensure success. This program assists individuals to find a job, provide necessary training at the work site, and to monitor the work performance to assure excellent quality. During the training period, a staff person is with the consumer at all times and assures the employer that the required amount of work is being completed. Once the consumer independently performs the work tasks, Link staff supports the consumer as needed to ensure continued success. When support is not required for the period of one year they can be discharged from the program and continue to work independently.  There is NO cost to the employer for the supports provided by Link Associates and consumers are compensated directly by the employer and wages and other benefits all fall within the employer’s standard hiring practices.

Worksite (Enclave) Program provides training and work experience in the natural work environment.  Consumers in this program work on mobile crews called enclaves, at the customers' facilities throughout the community.   Link Associates provides an on-site staff person to support the members of the work crew.   The Enclave offers employers quality labor for a very competitive wage and at the same time provides people with the opportunity to work in the community with support.  An enclave crew is made up of six to eight consumers with a staff member of Link to provide support.
