Link Associates
What is Involved In Becoming a Volunteer
“What is a volunteer?” Someone who works for no pay? Someone
who does something for nothing? These are definitions that
are often given. In fact, being a volunteer means that you
have a passion: a committed passion to work towards
something you believe in.
Why would anyone do something for ‘nothing’? Why give up your
time and effort for nothing in return? Some believe if you
volunteer you are dedicating your time towards something
that you won’t get paid for. Ah…but you do get ‘paid’.
What do you get from being a volunteer? Quite simply, lots.
You experience a world and a life outside of your own box.
You experience new places, people and importantly, you learn
about yourself, how to work with others and how to grow in
confidence.
At Link we view
volunteers as an important and integral part of all programs
and services. Staff and consumers rely on you to complete
your responsibilities in a professional manner.
All
volunteers agree to volunteer for Link Associates without
compensation and to comply with all rules, regulations and
agency policies and procedures. Providing the highest
quality services to everyone we support is important and as
a result Link will need your approval to check the accuracy
of your application information, as well as your references
and qualifications. Link Associates will conduct a child
abuse/criminal record check on all volunteer applicants.
We provide our volunteers with training
and support and mostly we provide everyone the opportunity
for personal growth. Below you will see several links
for volunteer information and we encourage you to contact
our Volunteer Coordinator at 515-262-8888. We have
something for everyone - come on - join us for a new
adventure.
