Services Volunteer Opportunities
Link
Associates Leisure Services programs serve over 460
participants each year in the only comprehensive leisure
program for people with disabilities in Central Iowa. To achieve this unmatched level of quality
programming, and to ensure the health and safety of the
participants, volunteers are utilized to compliment and
support Link’s full time Recreation Therapists. If you are
looking for a rewarding and fun way to contribute to your
community, we would love to hear from you. Below is a
sampling of volunteer opportunities available throughout the

Dances -
Three dances held
annually in October, early spring and in the summer. Times
are usually 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Community Art
Connection -
Designed to introduce participants to a variety of leisure
time alternatives. Speakers present information and/or a
hands-on experience. Classes meet approximately every three
(3) weeks on a weekday evening. Starting times vary from
6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and classes usually average to be an
hour to an hour and half (1 ½) long. Classes meet at Link
Associates.
River City
Spinners - A
social group for adults with mild and/or physical
disabilities, whom may be socially isolated within our
community. Activities are scheduled three (3) to four (4)
times per month in the community and include things such as:
Des Moines Playhouse, Iowa Cubs games, Iowa State Fair,
movies, dining, etc…
Special Program
Offerings -
Venture Cre w – Outdoor education and a coed scouting program
with the Boy Scouts of America meets on the second (2nd)
Wednesday of every month at Link Associates.
Special
Olympics/Training and Competition -
Link Associates provides
training and competition in nine Special Olympics events.
