Ways You Can Give to the

Link Associates Foundation

Dear Donors and Sponsors,

We appreciate you and we need you!  There are so many ways you can help.  Individual contributions, donations of goods, and sponsorship of events....these are a few of our favorite things.  Currently, we are striving to broaden our donor and sponsor base that will allow us to continue providing the level of supports we are known for.  Through the Link Associates Foundation you are not just a contributor, you are a colleague.  We will share our work with you and invite you to share your ideas.  Most importantly, your donation will provide you the satisfaction of knowing that you made a significant difference in the lives of the people we support.  Please join us by giving at one of the following levels today.

Major Contributor

    $10,000 and above

Honor Roll $ 5,000 to $ 9,999
Benefactors $ 4,999 to $ 1,000
Advocate $ 500 to $ 999
Patron $ 100 to $ 499
Supporter $ 1 to $ 99

There are so many ways to give.  Please review the many options below and contact us for assistance in deciding the best way for you to change a life.

Direct Gift – a gift of cash or personal property makes a quick and easy gift plus you receive income tax deductions and avoid capital gains tax.

Living Trust – If you name us as a beneficiary of assets in a living trust it is a revocable gift during your lifetime.  You maintain trust control for your lifetime and there are possible estate tax savings.

Bequest In Your Will - By naming us in your will, you wait to give the gift until after your lifetime and the gift is exempt from federal estate taxes.

Life Insurance Gift - When you give a life insurance policy to the Link Foundation, the cash surrender value of the policy or the cost of a replacement policy is deductible as a charitable contribution. If you continue to pay the premiums after your gift, these are also deductible.  Give a policy with us as owner and beneficiary and you can make a large gift with little cost to you and get a current income tax deduction and possible future deductions.

Retirement Plan Gifts - A will provision allows you to make a substantial contribution without diminishing the assets available to you during your life. Since bequests are deductible from your taxable estate, significant estate tax savings are possible. Naming the Link Foundation as a beneficiary also avoids income tax when we receive our distribution from the plan. Name us as beneficiary of the remainder of the assets after your lifetime.

Real Estate – You can gift the Link foundation a residence or other real property as an outright gift, or you may prefer to give your residence, farm, or vacation home and retain the right to occupy it for life. Personal property such as paintings, library books, cars or musical instruments, make excellent gifts. You can donate the property to us, or sell it to us at a reduced price.  You will be able to avoid capital gains tax on the sale of a home or other real estate and you get an immediate income tax deduction and avoid capital gains tax.

Retained Life Estate – Gift your personal residence or farm to the Link Foundation, but continue to live there and get charitable income tax deductions and lifetime use of your home.

(top)

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust – Create a charitable trust that pays you a set income annually.  You can secure a fixed and often increased income with immediate income tax deduction and know you will have a fixed income for life.

(top)

Charitable Remainder Uni Trust –The donor receives a variable income from the gift for the rest of his or her life.  The income to the donor is based upon a specified percentage of the trust principal, revalued each year, reflecting any increases in the value of the trust’s assets.  More than one person may receive income.  The trust assets become the property of the Link Foundation upon the donor’s death, or in a pre-established time period.  Additional contributions can be made to the trust. Income tax deductions for the donor are based upon current value with the remainder of the interest going to the Link Foundation.

(top)

Charitable Gift Annuity - A legal agreement between an individual (s) and the Link Associates Foundation in which the donor gives money, securities or real estate, and in return, the Foundation agrees to pay the donor a fixed income for life.  The amount of income received is determined by the value of the gift and the annuity rate. The annuity rate is determined by the donor's age at the time the gift is made.

(top)

Charitable Lead Trust - It is a separately managed Trust in which a donor places assets for a period of years with a specific amount of income being paid to the Link Associates Foundation, during the term of the Trust. At the end of a specified period of years, the assets are passed on to the named beneficiaries or revert to the donor.

Appreciated Securities The full market value of appreciated long-term securities donated to the Link Foundation can be claimed as a charitable contribution (subject to some limitations). By giving appreciated securities, you avoid the requirement of paying the capital gains taxes that you would pay if you had sold those securities to make a cash gift. You - and the Link Associates Foundation - then enjoy the benefit of a larger charitable contribution.
